The Frontier Heritage Alliance’s mission is to address historical and cultural heritage themes that transcend county and state lines. Our goal is to facilitate the preservation, protection, interpretation, development and promotion of our historical and cultural resources. We are a non- profit organization, and have no paid staff. Most of our work is done by our Alliance members.
We are extremely proud of our accomplishments in preserving our western history over the past few years. Explore the next few pages, see some of our projects. We are always seeking kindred spirits who have passion for preserving the west’s history.
I am a senior research historian, with Moore’s Marauders,Inc., an all volunteer organization which searches, at no cost to family members, for the remains of
America’s missing in action (please, take a look at our webpage or Youtube).
While our emphasis has been mostly WWII m.i.a. remains in the Pacific Theater,
our founder, Kenneth Moores, is seeking a continental U.S. recovery mission
(our Aleutians mission is not quite in that category). Normally, I am an Indian
Wars historian, so I have been concentrating on WWII. For a U.S. project, I
am going to suggest to Ken that trying to locate and recover the remains of
Private Tuttle, Custer’s orderly, might be considered. We have some wonderful
archaelogists, forensics specialists and others who could be made available, again\
at little or no cost to such an effort. The brief descriptions of Tuttle’s death will,
of course, make locating him difficult, but as our teams have scoured jungles and
mountains to find remains, this does not put discovering him out of the bounds
of possibility. My email above, is out of order for the next two or three days.
If you think that this may be a worthy project, please, let me know! Gallant
Tuttle deserves a known burial and a Silver Star (as he would probably have
been put in for a Certificate of Merit, in my opinion).
Thanks!
